John Cathal O’Brien

I’m starting a new rubric in which I’m gonna present you new indie artists you should check out! First on the list comes Irish singer John Cathal O’Brien.

Dublin-born John Cathal O’Brien issues his new album  “Acid Week” on December 11.

Under the van Gogh-inspired cover you’ll find melancholic, acoustic songs, inspired by Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake & Damien Jurado. O’Brien has been living in the US in the past ten years, mostly in San Francisco and more recently in New York. In the Bay Area he spent some time playing with Irish traditional band “Rogues”.

His work is dark, emotive and lyrically driven, reflecting what he describes as a “life of transience”.

“Acid Week” was produced by Rusty Santos who has worked with Animal Collective & Panda Bear.

Stream the album for free through John Cathal O’Brien’s bandcamp or own it for only 2.99$. Like him on Facebook & follow him  @JohnCathalOBrie.
