Distinctive albums of 2012: Beach House – Bloom

I don’t usually fall for female vocals, but this morning I woke up and the polka dots of the cover led me to the new album of Beach House. By morning I mean 3 pm, of course.

Yes. Beach House are very Pitchfork acclaimed but is that a bad thing? The magazine gave 9.0 to the new album, I would give probably 7.8. The opening song Myth is overly hypnotyzing, while the other songs have the potential to grow into you and crash like waves into your mind. I’m quite satisfied on a very first listening. Both male and female vocals are mellow and darky in this mothern cute way, remindning of a metallic bug cushed in a cocoon in the sand of an abandoned beach.  Add a little bit of the atmosphere of Pet Sounds of The Beach Boys, wellt he name helps for the association, no doubt.

The girl from the duo Victoria Legrand is nice of the French composer Michel Legrand. Fair enough. Good job, guys. I always wanted to visit Baltimore though.
