Last night I attended the book signing for street-style/travel blogger Yvan Rodic’s new book “Travels with Facehunter”. The party, organized by The 88 – the awesome NYC bespoke digital agency where I’m doing an internship now – and sponsored by Corzo Tequila took place at Le Bain in The Standard Hotel. I haven’t been there since about a year, but not too many things have changed. The Jacuzzi at the center of the club was still there – even though there was no one inside this time. The gorgeous rooftop and the stylish crowd, the music… everything was just right and just as I remembered it.
The party started around 9 PM with an open bar. I never had Corzo before but I really liked it – it’s smooth, flavorful and the best part is that I don’t have a hangover today.
Yvan was snapping photos of the guests and hanging out being super cool. “Travels with Facehunter” is showing his transition from being a street-style blogger to something more like a cultural explorer. “It’s no longer about fashion people inspiring fashion people – it’s about real life inspiring people” he writes in the introduction. And that’s what his second website http://yvanrodic.com/ is all about.
The book itself is a colorful photographic journey through the streets of the world – starting at New York and ending up at Melbourn. 146 flights. 80 airports. 268,460 miles. 10.8 times around the world. One stolen laptop that luckily gets found few months later and returned to Yvan. Otherwise, “Travels with the Facehunter” wouldn’t exist.
– Okay, Yvan from all these countries where do you think people dress best? – I asked him.
– In Sweden. They give a lot of attention to the detail and don’t care that much about the brand. It’s great!
The night ended up at Cafeteria with some fried pickles (for me) and the company of Yvan, Rachel & Nicole, Sina Braetz from InStyle Mag and the guys from Art Youth Society. And I got one of the best autographs so far.
Here are some more photos + a short video from the event:
