According to the artist “Something About the City” is a song firstly about the way memory can affect your experience of certain places. “In the lyrics I’m retracing my memories, but they are so vivid that they feel like reality, the feelings I had come back to haunt me. But the chorus suggests that you have to embrace the way you felt about someone to fully let go of that person. The end of the song accepts that trying to immortalize your memory of a person is futile, because ultimately, holding on to what you remember can’t rekindle the relationship…”, the artist adds.
