Vintage Train Party in New York

Better late than never I decided to blog about the Vintage Peacock Party I joined on December 16th this year.

Few minutes after 4 PM I caught the last one from the rides. The attractive train, which was may be from the 50s, was  running from 2 Ave in Lower East Side to Queens Plaza. Actually, I had to meet up with my friend Didi and to go with her, but I was so late that I couldn’t find her and I took the train alone, taking the risk to feel her anger later…

The experience was pretty amazing – everyone was dressed up in vintage clothing, there was a live swing band playing in the second wagon. It was packed, but it wasn’t too packed, people were dancing, everyone seemed having fun. When we finally stopped on Queens Plaza, there was a ten minutes break before the ride back so I went outside and started to text and call my friend to catch the ride back and jump on the second wagon, where I would be waiting for her.

Without being sure if she got my messages, I rushed back to catch the train… I was thinking how much more fun it would be if she was around… and here she was on the 47th-50th street – Rockafeller center stop. “I’m so happy you came!!!” I said… “Well I don’t give up that easily” she answered and gave me a reproving look.

The ride back was even more fun when I had company. Jessica Lin caught both of us on this photo for Time Out New York.

However, the after party was quite disappointing. The $9 special Manhattan wasn’t even in a martini glass and even though made with Makers mark it was the tiniest Manhattan ever and it looked horrible. I switched to the $5 Evan Williams on the rocks right after. However, the blue cheese burger from That Tent was quite delicious.

Here is a video I shot in one of the less crowded parts of the train:

And the best news!!! You can still catch a ride on the vintage train till December 30th. For more info click here.
