A new rock/alternative band caught our attention recently. Based in Cyprus, they are named The smallest Creature and released their first single “Reboot” out of the full-length album whose name is yet to be announced. The group is the brainchild of its frontman, Stefanos Marnerides (guitar, vocals, songwriting) who once used the name as an alias in his years as a solo artist before being joined by longtime friends Iacovos Stylianides (drums) and Stephanos Nicolaou (bass). While recording the album the trio released the debut single as well as promoting another three – Copenhagen, Spring, and Enchanting.
Bits of nostalgia flow into me as the lead single plays by. It recalls me the days of good old-school rock – drums are distinct, rhythm is solid – two virtues I really appreciate. Guitars slowly imbue the melody, lyrics are sensible and graceful. Music is skillfully written, marvelous attention is paid to detail, and compositions appear to me dreamy and enchanting.
Having the good chance to listen to some other tracks I got an instant favorite named as “Copenhagen” and can be found on Soundclud. It’s more like a ballad, a resonating one which I would give a couple more plays.
On the other hand Enchanting is the most dynamic song out of the four bearing unique viral vibe. It’s awakening, just like these ones you would play to yourself during making decisive master-plans. It’s energetic, moving, rocking!
