Scenes from the Gypsy Tabor 2012

The Gypsy Tabor presented by Mehanata New York this weekend was a multi-cultural madness and a beautiful, sparkling event on the green lawn in front of The Onderdonk House – the oldest Dutch Colonial stone house in NYC, located in Ridgewood, Queens. Celebrating the Gypsy culture in the city collecting all the cultures in the world, the line up of the three day open air fest featured performances from a lot of awesome bands – one of my favourites – the gypsy punks Bad Buka, Eskarioka & more “classical in perception” [I’ll be blamed for being pretentious with this phrase but my immigrant dictionary pulls out only this from my mind] world music artists like Los Mas Valientes, Brazda, [which I heard in Mehanata last week and which were very tender and delicate yet powerful sing Bulgarian, Serbian, Macedonian folklore songs] , a lecture on the gypsy culture by Petra Gelbart – a Romany singer, activist and scholar, living both in the US and Chech Republic, DJ sets by Burdel Dali, BBQ-s, camping, sun, games &&& you know how fun it is when people from all nationalities come to party “the Balkan Way” — good food, passionate music, booze…

I was there Sunday and I had one of the best Sundays in a long time, even on the price of a serious hangover the next day:

Here is the video that the lovely host & much more Michelle Christina aka Mishka shot, it explains the atmosphere better than my late night blurbs. In line with my latest decadent appearances: in my panties on the Bulgarian National Television, dancing on top of wooden bars for the hip-hop/dance Brooklyn DJ crew Dirty Nerdy and getting in the jacuzzi in the swanky Le Bain, I’m proudly representing my country in the video pounding a whole beer. I guess, they don’t make them as big as the Bulgarian ones, huh?

Also some shots. I don’t mean booze shots. I’m not drinking at least till tomorrow.
