Mark Maze takes on heartbreak and individualism in new album “Uncomfortable Truths”

London-based singer-songwriter Mark Maze delivers sugarcoated pop with a bite in his new album “Uncomfortable truths”. A blend of dark pop and urban/r&b his music will correspond to the fans of George Michael, Bruno Mars or Enrique Iglesias.

Maze’s sound takes reference from musical influences over the last two decades incorporating his own twist to bring it into the current arena.“I love the intensity and vocal production of artists such as Prince, Pink and MJ as well as the 80’s influences of Erasure, Depeche Mode and early Madonna”, the artist says.

Born and raised on a rough council estate on the outskirts of Leicester, where he lived with his parents and older sister up until his parents divorced, he was to witness many of his friends fall to wayside of bad decision making but it was his ambition and love of music that made him want for a better life. Mark started his musical journey as one of the six members of what he calls “an edgy mixed R’n’B vocal group”. Later on he landed a job at as a Junior Booker at a talent agency, which lead to him starting a solo project.

“Uncomfortable Truths” opens with the ballad “Devil May Cry” and until the end keeps the aesthetics of the slow rhythm. Worth watching is the video for the single, which tells beautifully a sad love story and shows off a lot of hot tattoos, no doubt! 🙂

One of the few exceptions of the sad songs about heartbreak that this album is filled with is the upbeat “Crazy” which would fit nicely in a house mix.
