Manilow – Cease and Desist

No, it’s not Barry Manilow. Here we’re talking about something way more badass – UK post-punk rockers create a raw and energetic garage sound with a distinctively British taste that reminds me of bands like Agent Orange, Wire, Television and The Sex Pistols.

The opening track “Missing” is as nihilistic and punk as it gets. The second track “Law Here” features sludgy guitars and languid vocals. I really like “Control Issue” with its high energy and oldschool vibe, which is the total opposite of the more laid back closing “Vitamins” with its long groovy guitar riffs.

Overall “Cease and Desist” is raw and even if it doesn’t really create something new, this debut EP possesses some of the best sides of the good old punk-rock. And what else do we need.

Manilow are Dean Moston, Paul Chamberlain and Gary Cardno. More about them on Facebook, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
