Rooftop Runners

There’s always something special about the bands formed by siblings – an unbreakable connection lingering, for sure.

Here we’re talking about two Canadian brothers, heading from the underground scene of their adopted East Berlin with “Energize” – a groovy electro-wave anthem, where the husky vocals of Benedikt and Tobias MacIsaac meet and float into one another. In the video we see the two brothers highly unified, dancing a hip and energetic mix of modern ballet and boyish rage. Pretty much everything in the production of the single is made by the two of them – only the cinematography – in a collaboration with Emilia Tapprest.

Rooftop Runners’s first full album is now in post-production, while their EP with the straight-forward name “We are here” is available through the band’s Bandcamp. Listen to it here or download it with the option to name your price through the artists’ Bandcamp.

Benedikt and Tobias explain their music as “a blend of soulful vocals, dynamic instrumentation and elements of electronic. A Cain and Abel act.”. I would qualify it as alternative pop – groovy and uplifting – full of sparkling beats, yet covered in darkness and definitely fresh.

And because the season of the rooftops is coming – here is my second favorite song from them – the quirky, yet melancholic “Bang Bang” starting with the words “You think you’re sleeping with the wrong ones… you think you’re sleeping with the wrong guns” (YESS!!) … The video is catchy again- this time featuring three very different one from another girls set up in a strange scenery at abandoned building . Cool.

The project, less than a year old already toured UK, Switzerland, Germany and Canada, including performances at Club NME and Rifflandia Music Festival.
