My Woshin Mashin

My Woshin Mashin rock. They’re fun! They’re a lot of fun. They sound good and they look amazing – which you can clearly see from the MTV featured video for their song  “Crab”:

My Woshin Mashin [and that’s the perfectly right spelling] was created in 2010 by 3 friends from Russia and Germany. Bibi Tulin and Hugo Simons left their previous bands and decided to make something new and different. Then they met Wolfgang Scherman, who lives in Berlin and wears a crocodile mask, and tadadadam My Woshin Mashin was born.

The weird project is influenced by German dance tunes, Mike Patton’s work, English metal bands and old school music according to their own words. It’s very hard to put My Woshin Mashin in any labels but as a fellow journalist I’ll try. An eclectic mixture of cyberpunk and upbeat German industrial is probably the closest, even though they’ve gotten much stranger qualifications such as “funkelnden Kitsch” in  Zillo Magazine and “better than amphetamine” in Russian Billboard.

Here is another amazing video by them – “Twenty One”. It’s so cool that it was even shown in few private art schools:

My Woshin Mashin even created a surrealistic trash movie called “The Smell Of Love”, which was shown at Pollygrind Festival  in Las-Vegas and sold out on DVD.

But wait. Here come the best news – My Woshin Machine just released their new full-length album titled “EVIL MUST DIE”. It includes songs such as “Hobo Rap”. “We are what we eat”, “Smell of love”, “Vodka” and “Bradbury”. It’s totally badass and it’s available for FREE DOWNLOAD here.

“Our first album was about the characters we love (leutenant Columbo, Robocop, Godzilla etc). Hard beats, funny lyrics, dance tunes…you know, a very funny album. But when we were working on “Evil Must Die” we decided to concentrate on things from the “real” world – degradation of the television, money as a modern god, animal rights, really bad people we know and their behaviour, the loneliness of true heroes etc. By this album we’re trying to say that people must be more intelligent and simple, they must to try to change themselves into a better way and try to find the real values of life. It’s not about the money, a good job, democracy, power, expensive stuff, social networks or television. But it’s about the inner God who can be described simply – Love.”

Now before downloading the album or supporting the band buying the artist’s cut on Bandcamp. /very cool Bandcamp page btw/ check how they look live! Totally badass! I wish they can come to NYC soon and shake this “all so artsy” Bushwick scene… ^_^
