Monks of Mellonwah

Monks of Mellonwah Oct 2012

Vikram Kaushik, Joe de la Hoyde, John de la Hoyde, Josh Baissari or simply Monks of Mellonwah are a four-piece alternative rock band based in Sydney, Australia. Strongly influenced by artists like Led Zeppelin, Muse, Pink Floyd and the RHCP, the band released their first EP  “Stars Are Out” in 2010. The five songs inside include astir lead guitar, grungy male vocals and melody… a lot of melody, actually. A video for “Swamp Groove” followed and the song got featured in ABC’s music program RAGE, then got awarded on the short movie festival “Harold’s shorts”.

In 2012 Monks of Mellonwah or simply MoM released their second EP “Neurogenesis” along with the single “Neverending Spirit”.

That brought a lot of media attention to the Aussie guys –  MTV featured the track an episode of their show “The Real World” and CMJ included the track on their MixTape for May, along with a feature of the band in their mag. The band got nominated at the LA Music Awards 2012 including Best International Act and took home the award for “‘International Rock Artist Of The Year”.

What’s coming next for Monks of Mellonwah? A new album soon and a new US tour.

I’m looking forward to it through the band’s Facebook, Twitterofficial website and Soundcloud

…but now it’s time for some more music – listen to the whole “Neurogenesis” EP here:
