False-Heads

The alternative rock band from London, England False-Heads mixes the cleverness of brit-pop with the energy of the grunge in an energetic and distinctive way. Frontman Luke Griffiths recorded himself the band’s first EP ‘Animation Draining Needles’ in 2010 and planned to make another band when he met Jack and Jake. And their new EP “Tunnel Vision” was born.

The EP consists of five songs, available for free download via False-Heads’ Bandcamp page. From the first riffs “Fall around” sounds like a 90s alternative anthem with sizzling guitar and frisky vocals by Luke. The next track, called “Without a doubt” comes with heavier guitars and the punkish verse “I don’t mind, I don’t care” going through the whole song – somehow reminding of the nihilism of Ramones.

“Where is your man?” possesses more mellow vibe and a Caribbean guitar – it sounds like what I would expect from an alternative band from a tropical island, jamming on the beach. The fourth song “Remedy” keeps the sweet vibe with polished, slightly distorted guitar. Тhe last track of the album “Comfort Consumption” welcomes the listeners with the lyrics:

“For someone who claims they’re wise, you seem dead behind the eyes
Broken noise, tunnel vision. It’s not me that makes that decision
Take a seat and enjoy the show. You can watch me waiting in death row.
I heard that before you spoke. Aren’t you tired of the same old joke? “

followed by the chorus “My insides are out“. This track once again has a slower, more melancholy rhythm. There is a certain pattern  in the EP – while the first two songs increase the tempo, the next three gradually slow it down.

‘Where is Your Man’ and ‘Without a Doubt’ already had positive reviews, got plays on BBC stations  among the other student and internet radios and made it to Q Radio’s ‘Single of the Week’.

False-heads is a band with potential that just starts blooming. Keep updated what’s going on with them on their Facebook and Twitter pages.
