Bitter’s kiss – captivating female vocals from New Jersey

Bitter’s kiss is a brand new project by student and singer/songwriter Chloe Baker, backed up and produced by her musician father Michael Baker, with tons and tons of potential. As young as Chloe is she shows maturity and captivating vocals with a downtempo/trip hop taste to it.

Her debut video – The Rope – examines her feelings about the suicide of a distant cousin from a very religious background and the importance of staying true to one’s identity and finding something personally significant to make life meaningful. Using her music as a diary, another song in her debut self-titled record, “Too Far Too Fast”, is a reaction to watching her older sister go off to college and noting how quickly time passes. Chloe’s music is full of suburban melancholia, which was a driving force to so many great pieces of art in the US (John Updake being the first one in my mind).

She quickly gathered popularity with her honest and non-pretentious songwriting and beautiful voice – bitter’s kiss has already over 2.4 k followers on Soundcloud, over 40k on Facebook and only the video for “The Rope” scoring over 10k views!

Simply put, bitter’s kiss gives us a chance for self reflection through the eyes of a young girl who is turned on to a much more profound reality than that which most of us face day to day. She’s definitely a one to keep an eye for and I believe see her grow as an artist.
